The Origin of the HOME Collection
First, there was the impulse to initiate a new collection to support the materialization of my new home and art space. Home, this place where we feel so good that we truly feel at home. Then, the more I progressed in the creation of this new collection, the more it led me on a journey through the different places where we feel our home: The Earth, and the consciousness of our first home, our mother's womb, ultimately allowing us to come home within ourselves : to be who we truly are. This is truly a collection that invites us to the most beautiful Date—the date within ourself —in order to truly connect with others and the world.
"Why did you paint on a Circular Canvas?"
This question came up constantly during "the Dream Time" exhibition in Cassis, where I introduced the HOME Collection for the first time. Painting on this circular format allowed me to dive even deeper within myself, and thus allows the public to live a highly introspective experience. This format brings us back to ourselves. It is conducive to taking the time to feel the artwork, to experience it from afar as well as up close.
Many people felt a "hypnotic" sensation, as if they were captivated by the work, which invites us to just be, without expecting anything more. To enter into true contemplation, just like the seaside, which invites us to be seized by the beauty of the landscape.
✨ From the Core to the Vastness
Water was omnipresent throughout the creation process. I worked an acrylic medium with an incredible amount of water. From the center outward, mirroring a mandala. I trace its contours, territories, and borders through gesture, colors, and shades of blue, connecting us both to our inner waters and the waters of the Earth.
The medium has its own trajectory. Once applied to the canvas, it continues to evolve for several days until the artwork is completely dry. What a lesson in not interfering into the creation process, but simply allowing life to take its course : TRUSTING THE UNKNOWN. There is a creative force at work that knows exactly how everything must take shape.
What if our role as humans was simply to surrender to what is greater than ourselves and stop resisting it? It is through resistance that suffering occurs. By welcoming everything that presents itself in the creative process, just as in life, everything becomes so much lighter.
